BBC pundit says Liverpool have a ‘wonderful’ player who’s now in the same company as Kenny Dalglish

It’s not often a Liverpool player gets a mention alongside the great Kenny Dalglish but the BBC’s Garth Crooks has done just that in his team of the season selection.

Dalglish is often regarded as Liverpool’s greatest ever player and it takes some doing to be compared.

The likes of Steven Gerrard might be up there in terms of longevity, while Luis Suarez is often lauded by many as one of the most talented to even done the Red shirt.

However, Dalglish still stands alone really and rightly so, given his contribution to the club.

But according to Garth Crooks, there’s a player in this current squad who deserves his mention alongside Dalglish.

And that man, is Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah deserves same acclaim as Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush

Giving a special mention to Salah despite leaving him out of his BBC team of the season, Crooks has suggested the Egyptian be mentioned alongside greats like Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush.

“These two individuals have lit up the Premier League landscape since their arrival on Merseyside like no other. Jurgen Klopp will join the ranks of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, while Mohamed Salah – who has probably made my team selection more than any other player during the past five years – will accompany the likes of Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush in Liverpool’s pantheon of greats,” Crooks said.

“Klopp has left Anfield with grace and dignity, and given the kind of farewell by the Kop only the very best receive.

“Salah, who could also move on this summer, is this wonderful mild-mannered man who has made the most significant contribution to the game, his community and Liverpool Football Club. What contributions.”

Salah has earned his Liverpool praise

Some players just become synonymous with certain clubs in and in modern times, it’s hard to even think about Liverpool without thinking of Mo Salah.

Quite simply, his goals and assists record since signing from Roma has been nothing short of sensational.

211 goals, 89 assists, and all in just shy of 350 appearances (transfermarkt), marks Salah down as a true great of not only Liverpool but the Premier League in general.

Amid talk of Salah potentially leaving in the next few windows, Liverpool will find it nigh on impossible to replace what he brings to the team.

A comparison with Dalglish is up for debate. But if any modern player deserves that mention, it’s Salah.
