Health authorities in Europe warned of an increase in drug resistance for gonorrhoea that could limit treatment options for the infection. Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by bacteria and often has no symptoms. If left untreated, it can cause serious problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease or infertility.
