Archaeologists excavating Mount Vernon, Washington’s mansion on the banks of the Potomac River, discovered dozens of bottles of – seemingly impossibly – preserved cherries and berries. In July 2022, two young brothers and their cousin were wandering through a fossil-rich stretch of the North Dakota badlands when they made a discovery that left them “completely speechless”: a T. rex bone poking out of the ground. The trio announced their find publicly on Monday (3 June) as workers at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science prepared to extract the fossil from its rock encasement at a special exhibit titled "Discovering Teen Rex." A new room with painted blue walls, a very rare colour in Pompeian spaces, has emerged in Pompeii during recent excavations in the central area of the ancient city. The stunning blue-ground walls are decorated with female figures representing the four seasons and allegorical representations of agriculture and pastoralism, according to experts. Archaeologists have unearthed an extraordinary banquet hall, containing stunning frescoes depicting mythological scenes inspired by the Trojan War, among the ruins of Pompeii. Archaeologists from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki recently unearthed a remarkably well-preserved marble head of the Greek god Apollo in the ancient city of Philippi, northwest Greece.
