It all started with a bench plaque in Royal York Crescent in Clifton, Bristol, UK. There, a sardonic bench tribute was paid to a cheating husband ‘Roger’, with an engraving that reads: “For My Love 06.09.69 - 25.12.23 Husband, Father, Adulterer Yes, Roger, I Knew” Delightful. Simply delightful. The mysterious plaque caused much merriment, but has also led several to question its authenticity, or if it could be the work of famed and elusive street artist Banksy – who is originally from Bristol. The birth date inscribed is 6/9/69, with the death date is 25/12/23 - which has raised some eyebrows....

The most recent work by the elusive street artist Banksy, located on Hornsey Road in London's Finsbury Park, has been vandalised with white paint, just three days after it was unveiled. Two distinct streaks of paint have been splattered across the green patches covering the side of the four-storey building. Created behind a pruned tree, the large spray-painted artwork aims to replicate the foliage of the tree, which has been severely cropped in a process known as pollarding - a method of pruning that restricts natural growth, according to RHS Gardening. Banksy officially claimed ownership of t...

It was first spotted in the Finsbury Park neighbourhood, in north-east London, yesterday. Banksy claimed the work by posting before and after photos of the location on his official Instagram account. But what's the me...

The artwork was painted behind a cut-back tree to look like foliage, with a stencil of a person holding a pressure hose next to it. Before Banksy confirmed the artwork was his, James Peak, who created the BBC Radio 4 series The Banksy Story, told BBC News: “To my mind it looks like a dead cert. But as ever with Banksy, you never quite know until he fesses up by posting it on his website.” He was spot on, as the elusive artist confirmed that he was respo...

Ever walked past some eye-catching street art but returned a few days later to find it has disappeared? To make sure this doesn't happen to you again, Art UK has launched a new digital archive to ensure you can keep admiring your favourite murals long-after they have been painted over. The digital archive, made up of around 5,000 significant murals from across the UK, will be freely available on the Art UK website. It is not the first project of its kind. Between 2017 and 2021 the organisation worked to digitise 50,000 pieces of public sculptures. Street art captured the world's attention when...
