Washington (AFP) - The US State Department on Tuesday criticized the Central African Republic's recent constitutional referendum, saying its removal of presidential term limits, among other changes, "undercuts the country's democratic governance." On Monday, the CAR's top court gave final approval to the results of the July 30 referendum, in which 95 percent of voters favored the changes. United Nations (United States) (AFP) - The United Nations Security Council extended an arms embargo on the Central African Republic for 12 months Thursday as members voiced alarm at the country's "deteriorating" situation. The 15-member Council approved the embargo and sanctions renewal with 14 votes in support and one abstention, made by China.
