European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is to meet with the Chinese president and party leader Xi Jinping in Paris next week. The Chinese president will be travelling to the French capital on Monday at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron for a joint meeting between the three, a spokesman for von der Leyen announced on Monday evening. China's Xi will visit France, Hungary and Serbia at the beginning of May. He will visit the countries from May 5 to 10, at the invitation of the respective presidents, a spokeswoman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in Beijing.
