More than 230 million women and girls around the world have now undergone female genital mutilation, most of whom live in Africa, according to a report issued on Friday by the United Nations children's agency. A group of Indigenous women in Greenland has sued Denmark for forcing them to be fitted with intrauterine contraceptive devices in the 1960s and 1970s and demanded total compensation of nearly 43 million kroner (€5.8 million), their lawyer said on Monday.
