There are hopes of improvement for Europe's commercial property market, as a long-standing trend of decline showed a slowdown for the first three months of 2024. Although values were down, they fell by just 0.5% in the first quarter. That was an improvement on the previous quarter, which saw a drop of 3.4%, according to data from the Altus Group. "As we start off 2024, we're seeing encouraging signs in the European commercial property market, with commercial property value declines moderating significantly across all sectors," Altus Group's senior vice president Phil Tily wrote in the group's ...

New York (AFP) - The trial of Archegos founder Bill Hwang for alleged securities fraud and market manipulation opened in New York on Monday, focused on the fund's spectacular 2021 implosion that cost large banks billions of dollars. The 2021 collapse of the fund sent shock waves through financial markets and caused $10 billion in losses for Credit Suisse, Nomura, Morgan Stanley an...

"At least 3% of gross domestic product (GDP) in research and education is the way of saying that we cannot limit ourselves to following emergencies, but that we work together to build a solid Europe, necessary for a truly uncertain worl...

The projects are likely to be some of the company's very lucrative developments based in the Ivory Coast and Indonesia. This will allow investors who may not be particularly interested in renewable energy projects to make sure their money is funding only the fossil fuel projects they support. Similarly, it will also allow investors who prioritise green projects to ensure that their money is not being used to support fossil ...

Chinese and Serbian flags were hoisted in Belgrade on Tuesday for the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Coming after a stop Paris, Xi's state visit to Serbia coincides with the 25th anniversary of the 1999 bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, which was hit by a US Air Force strike during NATO's campaign in Kosovo in 1999. The bombing was eventually acknowledged by Washington as a mistake, but it remains a sore point in Sino-American relations. "To some extent, the memory [of the bombing] is kept artificially alive, so that it can be solicited whenever it is deemed necessary, to p...
