A rare first edition Harry Potter book had been sold at auction for more than £45,000 (approx. €53,000). The novel, "The Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", was auctioned off at the Lyon and Turnbull auction house in Edinburgh. The copy of J. K. Rowling’s book is one of the first 500 printed in 1997; publishers produced only a small number of copies because of the uncertainty towards its popularity. It was predicted to sell for between £40,000 and £60,000, because of some unique errors. The book eventually sold for £45,201 (€53,500), and features a spelling mistake of ‘Philosopher’s’ on...

In a leafy corner of Hampstead, north London, is a terrace of three houses that bring together controversy, trailblazing modernist design and a James Bond villain who took on 007 in the 1964 film Goldfinger – the third instalment of the all-conquering spy movie franchise. In the end, it was Sam Smith’s song, 'Writing’s On the Wall', that was selected for the film – a song which would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2016. “I mean, how has that not happened yet?” Del Rey replied when asked by BBC if she would consider writing a theme song...

Welsh singer Dame Shirley Bassey, 87, famously sang about diamonds in the 1971 James Bond film and said she accepted the offer to sing the track as the lyrics “rang true to me and the way I felt about diamonds then and now.” Now, she is auctioning some of her "meaningful" jewels, including a diamond ring given to her by Sir Elton John. But unless you’re Goldfinger, good luck getting your hands on these. Although we doubt that the Bond villain would have done it for charity, as the items she collected throughout her career will be sold at Sotheby's Paris, with the proceeds benefiting Bassey’s c...
