By Ritika Jain Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha today that aim to overhaul Indian criminal jurisprudence by replacing the colonial-era laws like the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 along with the Code for Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973. By Ritika Jain The Lok Sabha passed the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Bill, 2023 by a voice vote even as the Opposition was in an uproar over the violence in Manipur. The DPDP Bill will now be placed before the Rajya Sabha for their consideration.
