The Simpsons casts its first-ever deaf actor
'The Simpsons' is set to feature its first-ever deaf voice actor. John Autry has been cast in the role of Monk - the deaf son of saxophonist Bleeding Gums Murphy - and American Sign Language will be used for the first time in the show's history in an upcoming episode. Producer Al Jean shared a image of the new character on Twitter and captioned the picture: "Meet Monk Murphy voiced by @johnautryll in The Sound of Bleeding Gums, Sunday @8.
