Thor: Ragnarokand Thor: Love and Thunderwere both from the same director, Taika Waititi, and featured much of the same cast, including Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder. They both have very similar plot structures; they start with humorous recap monologues that lead to big fight scenes followed by a return to Asgard (or New Asgard), when a new villain with a personal beef with Thor is unleashed, then Thor heads to another planet where a comedic secondary villain tries to imprison him, leading to a big battle, an escape, and then an ending that involves Thor making a noble sacrifice to atta...

At CinemaCon this week, Marvel announced a small but significant change to their upcoming movie Thunderbolts. From now on, the official title of the movie is… Thunderbolts.* With an asterisk. Why an asterisk? While Marvel’s Kevin Feige confirmed the new title at CinemaCon, he wouldn’t explain it. “We won’t talk about the asterisk until after release,” he explained. You can see the new title treatment for the film — complete with asterisk — below. READ MORE: Every Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie, Ranked From Worst to Best As far as I know, there’s never been a Marvel comic about the Thunderbolt...

Avengers: Endgame was supposed to be Robert Downey Jr.’s farewell to Tony Stark, Iron Man, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And maybe it still will be. But Downey is not ready to close the door on never returning to Marvel. Downey told Esquire in a new interview that he would “happily” return to the MCU under the right circumstances — even after Downey just won an Oscar playing a decidedly un-Iron Man-like role in a decidedly un-Marvel-like film, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Asked if he would consider more Marvel projects, Downey said he woud… Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA....

While Jonathan Majors could have been sentenced to up to a year in prison for his conviction for assault and harassment stemming from an incident with a former girlfriend in New York City in March of 2023, Majors was officially sentenced today instead to a year of domestic violence counseling. The judge in Majors’ case, Judge Michael Gaffney, said the sentence was due to his lack of prior arrests or a criminal history. Per Variety, Majors “must complete a 52-week, in-person domestic violence programming in Los Angeles, where he currently resides” and “must continue the mental health therapy he...

While we can expect a bunch of X-Men cameos in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the Juggernaut will apparently not be among them. Longtime X-Men movie fans will remember Juggernaut’s brief and frankly quite baffling appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand, the third of the original X-Men movies from 20th Century Fox. In that film, Vinnie Jones plays the famous Marvel mutant villain, who is typically depicted in comics as giant, hulking dude encased in bright red armor. Jones’ Juggernaut, on the other hand, was a bizarre looking creation, with a helmet made out of, I don’t know, stone or something? A...

The Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe feels like a totally distinct thing in our minds from the Marvel Cinematic Universe — or at least they did until Tobey showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home. But did you know that the original plan for the MCU, way back in Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, would have included references to Tobey Maguire’s Spidey? It’s true. Remember: Spider-Man 3 came out in 2007, just one year before Iron Man, and Sony spent years working on a Spider-Man 4 before finally abandoning that concept in favor of Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man. So how would Spidey have ...

What If…? Season 2 revealed a new character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who was given super powers by the Infinity Stones. It’s not the first time something like this has happened in the MCU; the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Captain Marvel — they all gained power through interactions or experiments with the Stones. But this new hero made us think more about the history of the MCU and think about who else might have gotten Infinity Stone powers that we haven’t seen … yet. That’s right, we think the Stones are connected to the next big thing in the MCU, the X-Men. In our latest MCU video, we...

The following post contains minor spoilers for Captain America: Brave New World and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which at this point is already two years old. Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier firmly established Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new Captain America. It even gave Sam his own Captain America costume — that’s it up above — which was closely modeled after Wilson’s Cap costume from the original Marvel Comics. I would have assumed that the new Cap would continue wearing his new costume into his first solo movie, Captain Ameri...
