Denny Hamlin was impressed with Iowa Speedway after driving on it for the first time in a NASCAR Cup Series race. On Hamlin’s Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin talked about how the race played out the way that he thought it would. “I thought after the Xfinity race it was going to race good,” Hamlin said. “I was pretty confident in that because they really moved the groove up to everywhere that was new paved, you had a car running on it. It was three lanes wide if everyone held each other tight, but it was at least two and a half lanes wide with cars giving each other space. “It was a great r...

Joe Gibbs Racing has a seat to fill following Martin Truex Jr.’s announcement this past Friday that he will retire from full-time competition after the 2024 Cup Series season. Truex, 43, contemplated walking away in the past few years, but has decided to leave the sport following a highly decorated career. Truex has won 34 races across 19 seasons in NASCAR’s premier series, including two Coca-Cola 600s and a Southern 500. He reached the mountain top in 2017 driving the No. 78 Toyota for Furniture Row Racing, winning his first and only Cup Series championship. Tough shoes to fill, yes, but whic...

Kyle Larson had one of, if not the best car during Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. And for the early part of the race, it seemed as if Larson would have a great shot at picking up win No. 4 on the season and his second straight at that. But on Lap 219-of-350, Larson’s day was ruined. Larson, looking to race his way back to the front, attempted to make it three-wide coming off Turn 4. Unfortunately for Larson, Daniel Suarez made contact with his left rear, sending him into the wall, as well as Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin analyzes Kyle Larson’s role in Lap 219 accidentHamlin discussed th...

Denny Hamlin added further detail Monday to his response to Jim France last week in which the NASCAR CEO claimed that the sanctioning body can’t offer permanent charters because they can “only support you as long as we are being supported [by media networks].” Hamlin fired back, saying “Permanent charters don’t cost anything.” Speaking on his “Actions Detrimental” podcast, Hamlin elaborated on that comment, explaining why teams such as Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing have earned the right to own what they have pumped millions and millions of dollars into over the years. Denny Hamlin is going to miss competing with Martin Truex Jr. who announced his retirement from NASCAR last week. On hisActions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin reacted to Truex leaving the sport while looking back at his career. “You always wondered when would that moment come with Martin,” Hamlin said. “I think that he’s competitive enough, he wants to leave on top, and from what I gathered from that press conference he just wants more time. And the time that it takes to be competitive at the Cup level, it takes a lot of commitment and a lot of time. For the last 20-some years, he’s had to live b...

With each passing week, Kyle Busch’s path to getting into the Cup Series playoffs gets more complicated. Of course, the easiest way for Busch to clinch his spot in the Field of 16 would be to get to Victory Lane but as of right now, Victory Lane feels far, far away for the two-time Cup Series champion. That’s not to say Busch hasn’t had a fast racecar at times, but luck certainly hasn’t been on his side. During Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, it was a mechanical issue which ended his run early and led to his second DNF of the season. Already below the playoff cut line entering the rac...

Denny Hamlin was impressed with how Kyle Larson‘s No. 5 car ran during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway. On Hamlin’s Actions Detrimental podcast, he talked about Larson’s day on the track. “Usually when you have surfaces like these, racing is tough and passing is tough,” Hamlin said about the track. “[Larson] went by me, I still had a 30th place car at the time. But he went by me, and the next you know, I look up five laps later and he’s 15 cars ahead of me. He had a car that obviously was dialed in great during that portion of the race and drove right back to the front, which gives...

During Stage 2 of Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, Denny Hamlin got into the rear of Kyle Larson and pushed him up the track. At the time, Hamlin was already a lap down and Larson was the leader, making any contact between the two to be quite bizarre. Larson said afterwards he didn’t believe the contact from Hamlin was intentional, which Hamlin later confirmed on his “Actions Detrimental” podcast. Hamlin said he “misjudged the center roll speed” of his car, as well as Larson’s, causing the unintentional contact. “No, it was unintentional,” Hamlin said. “I clearly misjudged the center r...

FOX Sports and NASCAR will continue to shoot and air the popular Radioactive mini-doc despite the network’s cancelation of “Race Hub.” According to Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, Radioactive will appear on NASCAR’s YouTube page plus FOX’s social/digital channels. There was some concern from fans that Radioactive would go away, but that isn’t happening. It’s here to stay and that’s fantastic news for NASCAR fans. Radioactive, which is typically four to six minutes long, takes a look at the biggest moments of that week’s race with audio from the team in-car radios. The mini-doc aired wee...

Joey Logano and Team Penske had a great evening at Iowa Speedway, but the No. 22 wheelman was far from satisfied with the racing conditions at the track. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion finished P6 on Father’s Day, a much-needed top-ten as Logano currently finds himself on the outside looking in of the playoffs. Still, he seems to be inching closer and closer to finding that win that’s eluded him thus far in 2024. While the P6 finish was something to be proud of, Logano was filled with jokes regarding Iowa Speedway’s re-pave after the race. The Team Penske wheelman wondered whether NAS...
