Five days after pitching a no-hitter, Nebraska baseball's Jackson Brockett was showered with accolades Monday. He also enjoyed a special date with history. The junior lefthander from Omaha was named national pitcher of the week by D1Baseball and Perfect Game, and he was also named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Brockett's gem came Wednesday night in the Huskers' 8-0 win over Kansas State in Lincoln. He struck out 12 batters and walked two in his first start of the season. It was only the second nine-inning individual no-hitter in Nebraska program history. The first Husker to pull off the feat wa...

Finally, some midweek success for Nebraska baseball, and some history to go along with it. NU got a complete-game no-hitter Wednesday from junior lefthander Jackson Brockett. The Huskers beat Kansas State 8-0 at Haymarket Park in Lincoln. Brockett had pitched just 5.1 innings this season ahead of Wednesday's start. He notched 12 strikeouts on the night, a nice feather in the cap next to tossing Nebraska's first nine-inning no-hitter since 1954 and the sixth no-no in program history. At the plate, Ben Columbus hit a home run as part of a 2-for-3 day. Riley Silva also posted a pair of hits. Nebr...

It was a 2-2 count when Mikolas delivered a curveball to rookie right fielder Cal Mitchell who then doubled into center field. Cardinals centerfielder Harrison...

The sophomore righthander's throwing error resulted in a 1-0 Husker loss in the milestone 1957 game. Dwight Siebler, who pitched Nebraska's first no-hitter in 1957 but lost the game, passed away June 16 at age 83. Services will be Thursday in Gretna, Neb. As a sophomore right-hander out of Omaha North High School, Siebler hurled a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against Oklahoma on May 18, 1957. However, his own throwing error in the second inning resulted in a 1-0 loss to the Sooners. With a Sooner on second base after a walk and an error, “the batter bunted, I fielded the ball ...
