Slowly but surely Coach Mark Pope and his staff are building a roster for year one at Kentucky. The positive momentum from Lamont Butler’s commitment on Friday bled over into Saturday as the ‘Cats landed Otega Oweh. It didn’t take long for the Oklahoma transfer to make his decision following his visit to Lexington. Now, there are five players on the roster coming out of a weekend that also included Aidan Mahaney (Saint Mary’s) and Andrew Carr (Wake Forest) as visitors. The next couple of weeks promises to be big as the roster-building efforts continue. Coach Pope’s first three transfer portal ...

Rob Brown remembers the moment Otega Oweh achieved legendary status for Team Final, slicing down the lane at Peach Jam and lifting for a dunk that took the roof off the gym in North Augusta. The former four-star guard anchored that backcourt alongside Corey Floyd Jr. while Dereck Lively II and Jalen Duren were the stars down low. They were a force to be reckoned with, steamrolling their way to the title with minimal pushback. Oweh had the grit and tenacity to spearhead the defense out on the perimeter, but in a high-profile matchup against Bronny James and Jahzare Jackson, his dunk in traffic ...

Well, that was quick. Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh arrived on Thursday for his visit to Lexington, then publicly committed early Saturday afternoon. Just minutes later, Kentucky officially announced his signing, the second of the day following SDSU transfer Lamont Butler’s public addition. Oweh, who averaged 11.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Sooners, will be bringing a ‘special physicality and intensity’ with him to Lexington, Mark Pope said. “Otega shot 37 percent from the 3-point line last year,” Pope said. “He’s elite at earning trips to the free-throw line and he...

Oweh was in Lexington on Thursday for a visit and wasted little time committing to Kentucky. Oweh, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound guard, averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, one assist, and 1.5 steals in 2...

Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh was in Lexington on Thursday for an official visit to Kentucky. The rising junior is being hosted by head coach Mark Pope and his new batch of assistants. Pope and Co. treated Oweh to a Keeneland trip earlier in the day and could be on the cusp of landing a commitment from the New Jersey native. KSR’s Matt Jones reports that a decision could come “soon” for Oweh, who is also being courted by Oregon and Texas A&M. Oweh has already visited both the Ducks (April 19) and Aggies (April 23). Those two visits were made public ahead of time — the one to UK was a surprise. ...
