Dennis Thompson, the drummer and last remaining member of MC5, has died at the age of 75. According to the Detroit Free Press, Thompson passed away at MediLodge of Taylor, a care facility outside of Detroit. The rocker had been rehabilitating there following a heart attack suffered in April. In a 2018 post on his website, Thompson recalled catching “the bug for playing music” when he was just 13 years old. “My parents were disappointed that I chose the band over school but they supported my decision,” the rocker wrote. “Who would know what fate had in store for me. If my parents ever thought I...

Auf ihrem neunten Studioalbum, «Can We Please Have Fun», konnten es die Kings Of Leon daher ganz locker angehen lassen. «Ich glaube, den Leuten ist nicht klar, dass wir auf unserem ersten Album nicht wirklich gro...

After his unfortunate passing yesterday, fans are reminiscing about some of Steve Albini‘s funniest tirades against other bands, including prog metal titans Tool. We’re going to miss Steve Albini a ton. Not only is he responsible for engineering a mini-canon of the last three decade’s most important rock albums, but he was also one of the funniest curmudgeons ever. Nobody could escape the wrath of Albini. Most famously, Albini raged against fellow Chicago natives The Smashing Pumpkins in an open letter, comparing them to REO Speedwagon and calling them “stylistically appropriate for the curren...

As tributes continue to roll in saluting late producer Steve Albini, Nirvana‘s social media has shared the famous proposal that Albini made to produce the band’s In Utero album. The notoriously blunt producer died of a heart attack earlier this week at the age of 61. One of his calling cards as a producer was Nirvana’s In Utero album, in which he famously penned a four-page letter after the massive success of Nirvana’s Nevermind album where he pitched himself to produce the band’s next record, but “only if we do it right.” Albini agreed with some of the comments that Kurt Cobain had made about...

Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora says he’s open to returning to the group if Jon Bon Jovi’s health improves to the point he’s able to tour again. Ozzy Osbourne has revealed who is the best guitarist he’s ever played with. The Prince of Darkness dubbed that guitarist to be Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi. In his own words, he tells friend, guitarist and podcast co-host Billy Morrison that Iommi “was and is the best fucking guitar player I’ve ever played with.” The answer came in a teaser clip for The Madhouse Chronicles, a new podcast from Osbourne and Morrison. Morrison mentions that a mark of a “truly iconic artist” is that others can play the exact same notes, but can’t fully replicate it. “I’ve played ‘Paranoid,’ I’ve played ‘Child...
