A 39-year-old man has become the first person to be jailed in England under a new “cyberflashing” law that came into effect this year. Nicholas Hawkes was sentenced on Tuesday to a total of 66 weeks in prison. He received 52 weeks for “cyberflashing” which became a crime on January 31 after the Online Safety Act became law late last year. Flying in Europe is at its safest level since records began, according to new research from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Findings in their 2023 annual safety report for global aviation show that, in Europe alone, the ‘all accident’ rate improved from 0.98 per million sectors in 2022 down to 0.48 accidents in 2023.
