  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End nearly mimicked this James Bond stunt

'Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End' very nearly had a James Bond-inspired stunt. The Naughty Dog title's co-lead designer Kurt Margenau has revealed that protagonist Nathan Drake was set to emulate the late Sir Sean Connery's iconic car stunt from 1971's 'Diamonds Are Forever'. The famous stunt saw Connery's 007 drive a Ford Mustang Mach down a narrow alley on two wheels in Las Vegas. Speaking on the CouchSoup YouTube channel, Margenau said: “We actually prototyped doing that [during A Thief’s End‘s jeep chase]." Michael Bay’s 'Bad Boys' also provided the team with inspiration for the driving in the ...

  • League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reboot in the works

‘League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’ is being rebooted for Hulu. Justin Haythe – whose credits range from ‘Revolutionary Road’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, to the Jennifer Lawrence spy thriller ‘Red Sparrow’ – has reportedly been tapped to pen the screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter. News of the movie comes despite the comic’s creator Alan Moore detesting 2003’s ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’. The movie was unanimously panned and marked the end of the late Sir Sean Connery’s acting career until he decided to make a comeback in 2012’s 'Sir Bill'. Moore create...

  • Sir Michael Caine: I'm done with movies

Sir Michael Caine is "more or less done" with movies. The 88-year-old acting legend doubts that he will ever return to the big screen as he feels he has nothing left to prove in his acting career and has turned his attention to writing books due to his declining physical health due to his advancing years. Explaining how he turned down a screenplay that involved his character running away from some criminals, Michael told The Guardian newspaper: "I can't walk, let alone run. And I'm more or less done with movies now. "I've done 150 movies. I think I've done enough." Michael – who has appeared i...

  • James Bond was originally meant to be a woman, expert claims

James Bond was originally supposed to be a woman, a 007 expert has claimed. Steven Jay Rubin, the author of 'The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia' has suggested that Ian Fleming's spy was earmarked for the Oscar-winning actress Susan Hayward in the 1950s before the late Sir Sean Connery took the part. Steven said: "Writer Lorenzo Semple and producer Gregory Ratoff were in the process centring on Bond as a woman. "Considering it was the mid-1950s it was very controversial but Susan Hayward was a real commodity." The Bond historian added: "Bond would be a natural move for her. But for whatever reas...

  • George Lazenby backs female James Bond

George Lazenby thinks James Bond could be female - eventually. The 82-year-old Australian - who was the second person to play the spy after Sir Sean Connery - thinks anything is possible for 007 because he's previously been played by a wide variety of men, including a Scot, an Irishman, a Welshman and two Englishmen, but doesn't think it will happen right away. And George highlighted the late Dame Diana Rigg - who played Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo opposite him as Bond in 1969's 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' - as proof of what a strong female agent could look like. He told TMZ: "[She was] e...

  • 'Basically a rapist': Cary Fukunaga slams Sean Connery's Bond

Cary Fukunaga has claimed Sir Sean Connery's James Bond was "basically" a rapist. The 'No Time To Die' filmmaker insisted the spy franchise has moved on drastically with its attitude towards women since the late Scottish actor portrayed the first incantation of the suave spy. He told the Hollywood Reporter: "Is it Thunderball or Goldfinger where, like, basically Sean Connery’s character rapes a woman? She’s like, ‘No, no, no,’ and he’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’ That wouldn’t fly today." It is believed the director was referring to a scene in 1965's 'Thunderball' where Connery's Bond forcibly kiss...

  • Terry Gilliam never expected Sir Sean Connery to star in Time Bandits

Terry Gilliam was surprised that Sir Sean Connery agreed to star in 'Time Bandits'. The late 'James Bond' star appeared as Agamemnon in Terry's 1981 fantasy adventure movie but the filmmaker confessed that he and co-writer Sir Michael Palin never expected him to board the project. He recalled to SFX magazine: "We put in into the script, 'And the Greek warrior removes his helmet, revealing himself to be Sean Connery or an actor of equal – but cheaper! – stature. Neither me or Michael imagined that he'd want to be in it." The 80-year-old filmmaker continued: "We caught Sean when he was in an int...

  • Sir Sean Connery wanted tax deal to help with devolution campaign

Sir Sean Connery wanted help with his taxes in exchange for backing the then-government's devolution campaign. The James Bond legend - who was living in Marbella and Los Angeles at the time - was keen to support Prime Minister Tony Blair's campaign for his native Scotland to have its own parliament in late 1997 but expressed concern that would mean spending more than 90 days in the UK and so he'd have to pay out more money. The late actor - who died last year aged 90 - met with then-minister without portfolio Peter Mandelson to discuss his concerns and expressed his fury that others groups suc...

  • Dame Judi Dench: Daniel Craig's Bond is too glum

Dame Judi Dench thinks Daniel Craig's James Bond films are not as "funny" as they used to be. The 86-year-old actress starred in the franchise as 007's boss M, beginning with the 1995 flick 'GoldenEye', which featured Pierce Brosnan as the legendary spy. Dench believes Brosnan's four 007 blockbusters had a fantastic blend of action and humour and were reminiscent of the films starring Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore which came before, whereas Craig's outings in the tuxedo have been more gloomy. When it was suggested to her that Craig's films are gloomy in an interview on Dame Esther Rantz...
