South Carolina senior Gavin Casas exited the team’s SEC Tournament showdown against Kentucky in the bottom of the 5th inning after apparently suffering a hand injury. Casas made an early impact for the Gamecocks, recording a three-run home run and a highlight catch in the field. Casas began to show signs of discomfort after hitting a foul ball. When the umpire felt his hand, he showed visible pain. He did not finish his at-bat. Talmadge LeCroy pinch hit and Kentucky pitcher Cameron O’Brien struck him out to end the inning. Gavin Casas can crack. On Friday, the South Carolina infielder crushed a three-run home run for 429 feet in the bottom of the second inning to give the Gamecocks a 3-2 lead over Kentucky in the SEC Tournament. The massive hit was Casas’ 10th home run this season and second of the SEC Tournament. Further, it was redemption for Casas, who only recorded one hit in four at-bats during South Carolina’s narrow 11-10 loss to LSU on Thursday. After the pivotal play, South Carolina head coach Mark Kingston showered praise on Gavin Casas and his fellow Gamecocks. Try Fubo for FREE today and don’t miss a...

Playing an SEC schedule usually brings one of the toughest schedules in the country. Results can be a roller coaster at times, just ask South Carolina and head coach Mark Kingston. Starting the year with four wins in their first two SEC series, the Gamecocks were swept in their final two — stumbling into Hoover on a six-game losing streak. In the midst of a poor stretch, Kingston says he and his coaching staff prepared the players for this kind of moment. He believes South Carolina is better off for it, not keeping their head down. Instead, they are keeping confidence and attempting to get bac...

South Carolina star Cole Messina produced another terrific all-around performance to help lead a win against Arkansas in the SEC Tournament. In a tight battle vs. the Hogs, Messina provided the run support with several of his at bats, first knocking in an RBI single to give the Gamecocks a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Then, Messina returned the lead to South Carolina again in the fifth inning with a two-run home run. But darn it if Arkansas didn’t get two more back in the seventh to tie the game up again. However, Messina stepped into the box one more time in the ninth inning and provided...

South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Mark Kingston knows that the SEC is incredibly deep this season. Because of that, he also feels strongly that the conference should get as many teams in the NCAA Tournament as are deserving. As of now, 11 different SEC teams appear to be in consideration for the NCAA Tournament. That’s a large number but, as Kingston explained, if that’s who is deserving then he believes the selection committee should put those teams in.
