China Petroleum & Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, announced on Wednesday that it has agreed with France's TotalEnergies SE to form a joint venture to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The production of SAF from waste oils will be done at one of Sinopec's refineries in China, it said. The partnership aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 230,000 tons, with the new production line co-operated by both entities. Africa Oil announced on Wednesday a strategic agreement signed with units of TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy for the acquisition of participating interests in Block 3B/4B in the Orange Basin, offshore South Africa. The maximum transaction value is put at up to $46.8 million. On completion of the transaction, subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions, the operatorship of Block 3B/4B will transfer to TotalEnergies. European aircraft manufacturing giant Airbus and France's TotalEnergies are forming a strategic partnership for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the company announced on Wednesday. The partnership aims to contribute to the reduction of the sector's CO2 emissions, in line with achieving net carbon neutrality of aviation by 2050. Member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) agreed to the target in 2022.
