The next Transformers movie is launching its promotional campaign in an extremely literal way: The first trailer for the movie will supposedly debut in space. Truth be told, I do not fully understand what that means. (Hopefully I do not have to go to space to watch it; I specifically became a film critic because I was promised that this job meant I would never under any circumstances have to go into space.) But according to the press release, the upcoming Transformers One — an animated origin movie for the Transformers franchise — will “launch in space.” The show will begin online this Thursda...

We’re at the halfway point of the first season ofX-Men ’97, and this show has already given us ’90s nostalgia, tons of mutant drama, some shocking deaths, boatloads of cameos, clever adaptations of classic X-Men comics, and Magneto’s magnificent hair. If the new trailer for the rest of the season is to be believed, things are only going to get wilder from here on out, with more twists, even higher stakes, and the X-Men ’97 debut of Captain America. Or at least of Captain America’s shield, which makes a brief appearance in the new teaser. Who else would be throwing that thing though? Cap did ma...

This is not a joke: The Joker sequel is a full-blown musical. The first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deuxis here, and it confirms that the film will feature a Joker (once again played by Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix) with a song in his heart. He will be joined by Lady Gaga, who will play this Joker’s version of his star-crossed love, Harley Quinn. Also returning from the first film is Todd Phillips, Joker’s co-writer and director. The trailer shows Joker and Harley falling in love in a mental institution, and using music and dance to seemingly escape from the horrors of their incarceration. Half...

Look, we all complain a lot about Hollywood only making sequels, only doing remakes, and basically just rehashing the same four plots over and over again. So if nothing else, you have to give Fly Me to the Moon this: It definitely is not a premise and genre I would have ever expected. It is a romantic comedy built around NASA faking the moon landing. Technically speaking, the film doesn’t appear to suggest the Moon landing was fake, a long-standing conspiracy theory among some. Instead, it imagines that NASA might have been so driven to succeed at the Moon landing, and so focused on beating th...

In just a handful of years, Ti West has made an entire trilogy of films about the intersection of Hollywood, sex, and stardom. It started with 2022’s X, an unusual slasher movie about a killer murdering the cast and crew of an porno film in the late 1980s. Next came Pearl, a prequel set decades earlier about an old lady (played by Mia Goth under heavy prosthetic makeup) in her earlier days trying to make it as an actress. Now comes MaXXXine, a full-on sequel to X also starring Goth, this time as her other character from X, another aspiring actress who shares her name with this new movie’s titl...

It’s fair to say Bambi was always one of the darker and more horrifying kids films. But it wasn’t a horror movie — until now. The same producers behind the viral Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey franchise have now set their sites on another kids favorite and produced Bambi: The Reckoning. The first trailer for the movie is below. It doesn’t set up Bambi as a monstrous killing machine hellbent on revenge against the people who killed his mother … but I can’t imagine that’s not the premise of the movie somehow. For the first time in five years, there’s a new Descendants movie. The hugely popular series of Disney Channel musical movies about the children of famous Disney villains hasn’t had a full-fledged film since 2019’s Descendants 3. Now the franchise is back with The Rise of Red, which Disney is billing as “the next installment in the mega-hit Descendants franchise.” The new film is premiering on Disney+, although it will also air on Disney Channel this summer as well. You can watch the first teaser for The Rise of Red below. Subscribe to ScreenCrush on Youtube READ MORE: 10 Actors You Forgot Wer...

We take timeless American foods like the Pop-Tart for granted. But apparently Jerry Seinfeld does not. His new movie — his first as a director — is called Unfrosted, and ittells the story of the development of this great invention. Based on the movie’s first trailer, however, I am not sure it is strictly speaking a “biopic” (or maybe in this case a “pieopic.”) It does not seem very serious or very accurate to the historical record. Instead, Unfrosted looks like a over-the-top comedy inspired by the real-life battle for control of the breakfast industry in the 1960s, with Seinfeld not only dire...

Just months after the release of Poor Things, director. Yorgos Lanthimos and star Emma Stone are back with a new film together — Kinds of Kindness. This one is described as a “triptych fable” with three different stories. (It’s unclear from the teaser whether these stories intersect in some way, or if this is a full-fledged anthology film.) The cast of the film besides Stone includes Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chao, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. The first teaser for the movie doesn’t give much of a sense of any of the stories but it does at least indic...

It took 17 years to get Bad Boys For Life after Bad Boys II. Even with a pandemic it only took four years to get the next Bad Boys — which is officially titled Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and is coming to theaters this summer. The film once again stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the roles of rule-breaking Miami cops they originated in the first Michael Bay film all the way back in 1995. Bay departed the franchise after Bad Boys II, but the guys who made the previous film, Adil & Bilall, are back to direct this film as well. And this sequel takes the title even more literally than ever before...
