Marvel’s Eternals is one of the biggest critical and commercial disappointments in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It had a really talented direector, an incredible cast that included Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, and Kumail Nanjiani, and one of our favorite weird Marvel comics, created by Jack Kirby. So what went wrong? That’s the subject of our latest ScreenCrush video, which looks back at Eternals, tries to figure out where things went wrong and puts forward a plan that could have changed everything: Making it a Disney+ television series instead of a feature film. We’ll also discuss ...

The Jinxcould have been created to prove the old adage that truth is stranger than fiction. It told the story of Robert Durst, the black sheep of an obscenely wealthy New York real estate dynasty, who police connected to the mysterious disappearances or deaths of three different people: His first wife Kathy, his best friend Susan Berman, and his neighbor, Morris Black. Durst had even been tried for Black’s murder; he managed to beat the charge despite acknowledging, in open court, that he had chopped up the neighbor’s body in order to cover up what he had done (in self-defense, he claimed). Th...

Disney+’s X-Men ’97rolls on in March, with new episodes every Wednesday through the season finale on Wednesday May 15. Disney+ will also get a documentary about the making of the hit animated show, and it could potentially be an interesting film, given that Marvel fired the series’ creator, Beau DeMayo days before the show premiered on streaming. May also has two very high-profile music docs: The Beatles’ long-unavailable final film, Let It Be, and a new doc about The Beach Boys. The service will also premiere a documentary about Muppets creator Jim Henson, from director Ron Howard. There’s al...

We’re at the halfway point of the first season ofX-Men ’97, and this show has already given us ’90s nostalgia, tons of mutant drama, some shocking deaths, boatloads of cameos, clever adaptations of classic X-Men comics, and Magneto’s magnificent hair. If the new trailer for the rest of the season is to be believed, things are only going to get wilder from here on out, with more twists, even higher stakes, and the X-Men ’97 debut of Captain America. Or at least of Captain America’s shield, which makes a brief appearance in the new teaser. Who else would be throwing that thing though? Cap did ma...

Well, that was one heck of an X-Men ’97 episode. This week’s adventure ended tragically, with a cliffhanger that might have involved the deaths of two different X-Men. (We’re just going to hold our breath until next Wednesday and hope for the best.) It also drew on a ton of classic X-Men comics, and carried forward long-standing storylines from the old X-Men: The Animated Series. For the full details on what stories this week’s episode was drawn from, and all of the Easter eggs, references, and little things you might have missed, check out our latest Marvel video below. It takes you through X...

Week after week, X-Men ’97keeps exceeding all of my expectations. What could have been a hollow exercise in ’90s nostalgia has turned out to be a terrific show in its own right: Not just a fitting successor to X-Men: The Animated Series, not just a good cartoon but, at least through its first five episodes, one of the best TV shows Marvel has ever made. The original X-Men cartoon was good for its era, but it was never this good; not narratively, and certainly not visually. This week’s episode, “Remember It,” had everything you could want from an X-Men television series: Epic action, heart-wren...

Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington, says the proposed spinoff for his Game of Thrones character is indefinitely shelved. The project first emerged in media reports back in the summer of 2022, when it was rumored that Harington was attached to a spinoff series that would follow Jon Snow after the events of Game of Thrones’ eighth season. It’s been fairly quiet since then regarding this potential Game of Thrones show. But now Harington himself told ScreenRant that the series is not happening, at least not right now. He said he hadn’t spoken about it until now because “it was in development.” Now, h...

The following post contains spoilers for the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale. What’s the deal with the word spoilers? Nothing here is spoiled! It’s not like the piece is going to give you food poisoning if you read it without watching the episode! The Curb Your Enthusiasmfinale may not have been perfect, but it had the perfect title: “No Lessons Learned.” From Curb’s season premiere earlier this year, it looked likely that its creator and star Larry David planned to — almost literally! — re-litigate the finale of Seinfeld, one of the most notorious television episodes in the history of the medium....

HBO is moving forward with its second Game of Thrones spinoff series, and today revealed the show’s key stars. The series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, was first officially announced almost exactly one year ago in April of 2023. Long rumored, the show is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg stories, which are set within the Game of Thrones universe. Today HBO revealed that Peter Claffey will play Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell will be Egg. That’s them above. Claffey is a former rugby player turned actor who has previously appeared in Bad Sisters and Wreck. Ansel...
