Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook is set to be in Lincoln at least five more seasons. NU athletic director Troy Dannen announced a contract extension for Cook Wednesday. Nebraska has their new athletic director. University of Nebraska Interim President Chris Kabourek announced Wednesday morning that Troy Dannen has been hired for the position. Dannen has ties to the Midwest with roots in Iowa. Dannen has served as the Director of Athletics at the University of Washington since October. The Nebraska volleyball spring match has a new location. The Huskers will still face Denver in Kearney, but the venue is being moved from Kearney High School to UNK's Health and Sports Center. The move increases the approximate capacity for fans from 3,000 to 5,000. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. April 2 at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds. The cost is $12 for upper-bowl bleacher seats and $25 for lower-bowl chairback seats. All seats are general admission. Nebraska volleyball is set to return to central Nebraska for their next spring match. After going to Central City last year, the Huskers will head to Kearney High School to take on Denver on May 4 this year. NU played a spring match at KHS in 2017. KHS athletic director Ryan Hogue says the seed was planted a year ago for a return to Kearney. "But they went to Central City," Hogue said. "This year it worked out. A report from the Houston Chronicle indicates a major shakeup could be coming to Nebraska athletics. Brent Zwerman reports&utmsource=t.co&utmmedium=referral) that NU athletic director Trev Albers is being targeted by Texas A&M for their open AD position. Zwerman says Alberts is "expected to take the job". The Aggies have had four athletic directors over the past decade. A former Husker All-American on the football field, Alberts took over as Nebraska's AD in 2021.

Fans and Husker female athletes gathered Wednesday evening at the Hawks Championship Center to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The event was open to all families with children in grades K-8. Representatives from all women's sports showed up to interact with fans and play games related to their respective sport.

The transfer portal has been open for collegiate volleyball and now Nebraska can begin its delayed start to the offseason.
