By Giuseppe Nelva Today Unity revealed a rather radical change to the new pricing policy announced a while ago, following the massive backlash from many of its developers and the wider gaming industry. The announcement was teased a few days ago following an attempt with partial concessions, and it comes signed by Unity Create president Marc Whitten. The Unity Personal plan will remain free and there will be no Runtime Fee at all for any game built under that plan. On top of that the revenue cap for the plan will be increased to $200,000 from the previous $100,000. Developers also won't have to...

By Giuseppe Nelva Today CD Projekt RED released the live-action trailer of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty, starring popular actor Idris Elba. The actor, who plays legendary agent Solomon Kane in the game, is seen sitting at a bar, and providing some wisdom on how to win in Night City when the deck is stacked against you. Of course, you have to augment yourself and become faster, stronger, and better, but ultimately, it's who you know and who you can trust that really matters. The trailer alternates live-action with gameplay scenes, and Idris Elba's acting is definitely a...

By Robert Scarpinito Back at PAX East 2022, I met Eric Manahan, the solo developer behind an upcoming game called LUCID. Itâs a fast-paced, fluid action platformer thatâs as kinetic as it is aggressive. Manahan described it as a âCelestoidvania,â and he just launched his Kickstarter for LUCID. âLUCID has a very unique form of traversal, which doesnât have an industry term that I know of,â he said. âThe closest I could come up with was âNode-Based Traversal,â one where striking targets refreshes your jump and movement resources. âBut that is a MOUTHFUL! âCelestoidvaniaâ...

Set to launch in February, Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 will take you to Mars, which, it turns out, is actually not only inhabitable, but inhabited. There, you'll find residents with their own rich lives, as well as a unique culture and ecosystem completely different to the one you're leaving behind. Not only that, but Hoyoverse says you'll also be able to uncover "mysteries hidden behind the daily lives of residents". Exciting stuff. You can check out the first-look traile...

By Joseph Allen A new DNF Duel DLC character has been revealed, and if you weren't a fan of Brawler's burly antics, this one might be for you. Just a week after previous DLC character Brawler's release date, Battle Mage has been unveiled as the next major DNF Duel Season Pass character. The trailer revealing her existence is characteristically brief, just like those for Brawler and Spectre before her, but more trailers showcasing her abilities will surely be on the way soon. As you'd probably expect from a character called Battle Mage, the new character looks like magic will be a big part of h...

By Giuseppe Nelva Sega has kept the character played in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth by popular Vtuber and YouTuber Kson a mystery, until now. Today I played the demo of the game at Tokyo Game Show (of course, you can expect my full preview soon), and I met her. Her name is Kei and she stands behind the counter at a bar in Honolulu named "Revolve Bar." While we couldn't take pictures of the demo directly, Sega released its own gameplay recording, and luckily, it includes a quick glimpse of Kei, as you can see below. Not only does Kei have Kson's likeness, but also her voice, albeit the demo ...

By Joseph Allen The UK CMA has announced its preliminary approval of the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard merger this morning, pointing to "remedies" that allay its residual concerns with the newly-proposed deal. After the CMA blocked the original deal on the grounds of concerns regarding cloud gaming, Microsoft submitted a revised version of the merger that contained new cloud gaming provisions. In the new version, Microsoft declared that it would cede Activision cloud gaming rights to Ubisoft, which could then license out those rights, thus averting a cloud gaming monopoly on Microsoft's part. ...
