Tokyo stocks mixed on lower tech shares, buying of utility issues

Tokyo stocks were mixed Monday morning, as technology share declines after U.S. counterparts fell late last week were trimmed by buying of utilities and other domestic demand-related issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 5.80 points, or 0.02 percent, from Friday to 27,507.33. The broader Topix index was up 4.85 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,996.78.

Decliners were led by mining, electric appliance and precision instrument issues, while gainers included pulp and paper, rubber products, and textiles and apparel.
