Football: Furuhashi nets in cup, Saito scores in 2nd straight game

Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi scored for Celtic as they advanced to the semifinals of the Scottish Cup on Saturday, while winger Koki Saito netted in a second straight game for Sparta Rotterdam.

Visiting Celtic cruised past Hearts 3-0 in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals, with Furuhashi flicking in a superb back-heel off Alistair Johnston's low cross to make it 2-0 in the 45th minute at Tynecastle Park.

Aaron Mooy swept home just two minutes in before Furuhashi scored his 26th goal this term in all competitions. Cameron Carter-Vickers headed in from a free kick 10 minutes from time for their third.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Saito scored his third goal of the season as Sparta won 3-1 at home against Vitesse.

The 21-year-old acrobatically volleyed home to give his side a 2-1 lead in first-half stoppage time, reacting well after a cross from the right was partially cleared by the opposing goalkeeper.

Kaoru Mitoma assisted on Brighton's opener and played a big part in their second goal in a 2-2 draw away to Leeds in the English Premier League.

Mitoma rose high to head back a cross from the right wing, enabling Alexis Mac Allister to nod home the 33rd-minute opener at Elland Road before Leeds forward Patrick Bamford smashed in the equalizer.

Mitoma showed great acceleration in the 61st minute to squeeze in a cross from the left that led to Brighton's second, an own goal by Leeds winger Jack Harrison, who eventually made amends with his 78th-minute effort that left the game deadlocked.

In the German Bundesliga, midfielder Genki Haraguchi set up the equalizer for Stuttgart, who secured a 1-1 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sebastian Rode curled in off the bar to give Frankfurt a 55th-minute lead but Haraguchi's dribble and pass allowed Silas Katompa Mvumpa to roll home from inside the box 20 minutes later in a match that featured a total of five Japanese players.
