The Tesla Cybertruck’s arrival is imminent. Tesla has mentioned a first production run sometime this summer albeit in low quantities. Tesla CEO Elon Musk however has also alluded to a ramp up in production later in the year if not next year altogether. With its arrival looming, many are skeptical as to whether or not the expected launch time frame has any merit. In addition, one major financial service company, Morgan Stanley, thinks the Cybertruck will produce low volume overall appealing to only a very niche group of individuals.
In essence, Morgan Stanley analysts are calling the Tesla Cybertruck a novelty and a “cult car” more than anything else. While it will sell tens of thousands of units, they believe it’s not likely to reach the hundreds of thousands in their forecast on sales for the vehicle. This analysis comes despite having over one million alleged pre-orders on hand. In fact, the anticipation for the Cybertruck is so high, the company has been forced to refund deposits in certain countries.

To say that no one is interested in the Cybertruck would be a major error, but whether it will sustain healthy production and sales volumes like the Ford F-150 Lightning remains to be seen. Even so, a survey conducted by AmericanTrucks.com sheds light on the future of the Cybertruck.
Over a quarter of those surveyed said they would buy a Cybertruck. When asked what truck drivers were interested in most, the Tesla ranked second losing out to only the F-150 Lightning. As for whether or not the vehicle will actually show its face this summer, every indicator points to a resounding yes. With what appeared to be a production model spied testing in California this year, and patents being made on the metal and assembly process being used, it breeds confidence that the truck will finally roll off an assembly floor line. Elon Musk has stated the Cybertruck will be built regardless of whether it flops or not.
