RAM TRX SHOWS SUPERIOR ARTICULATION COMPARED TO FORD F-150 RAPTOR R

When choosing between two $100,000+ trucks that both have supercharged V8 engines, both produce at least 700 horsepower, and both are built in Michigan, it’s fair to examine every little detail of data. Lest you put six figures into the wrong truck. And in the infinite expanse that is the internet, there’s certainly no shortage of content to parse through. With that, we’d like to bring your attention to the latest addition of supertruck data between the Ford F-150 Raptor R and Ram 1500 TRX.

Car and Driver recently published a video on its YouTube channel showcasing the suspension of the F-150 Raptor R, and put it on the ramp to test its suspension articulation. After some math, the Raptor R has a ramp travel index (RTI) score of 525, which is lower than the regular Raptor and lower than the Ram TRX. For comparison, the standard Ford Raptor with 37-inch tires has a rating of 537; meanwhile, with the standard 35-inch tires, that rating goes up to 559. That decrease is due to the travel restriction due to the tires’ size. Meanwhile, the Ram TRX has an RTI score of 602.

The Ford F-150 Raptor R has a slightly lower rating than the standard Raptor with 37s due to the stiffer suspension Ford integrated into the front of the vehicle to account for the added weight of the 5.2-liter supercharged Predator V8. However, as the Raptor R is lighter than the TRX, it might be more comfortable off the beaten path than the Ram TRX, but that all comes down to preference.

The video shows that the F-150 Raptor R incorporates Fox Live Valve Internal Bypass Shocks, which can deliver twice the amount of damping support. What’s more? The shocks are controlled by an algorithm that processes data 500 times per second, which enables the shocks to adjust for various situations in a flash, whether you’re defying gravity for a short moment or crawling up some rocks. On-road comfort is likely also superb due to this feature.
