Grab your boots and hats! The American Far West is making a comeback in women's wardrobes, with a focus on equestrian accessories, but not only. Because, the trend of the moment puts a specific slant on the familiar theme with the 'coastal cowgirl.' This aesthetic combines Wild West and coastal inspirations, embracing elegance, comfort and a taste for adventure.

After the 'coastal grandmother' \-- a major trend of 2022 -- make way for a new inspiration straight from the American coast: the 'coastal cowgirl'. This time, it's about combining two trends that are theoretically opposed, namely the casual chic of the Hamptons and the fun and assertive tone of the Wild West aesthetic. It's an improbable combination that's already proving a hit on social networks, especially on TikTok, where the #coastalcowgirl hashtag already has some 11 million views. The trend is still in its early days, but it could soon take pride of place in our wardrobes.

Boots are back

It's hard to imagine the typical Hamptons grandmother, with her wicker baskets, linen and pristine whites, busting out a cowgirl hat and boots... and yet. It's by taking everything, mixing it up, and generating a whole look from this improbable mix that we end up with the 'coastal cowgirl' aesthetic. And, of course, boots are the cornerstone of this fashion inspiration. These can be worn just how you like: shorter, or with patterns or fringing, to bring a modern touch to the outfit. On TikTok, the term 'cowboy boots' has more than 750 million views, reflecting a growing craze for this must-have accessory.

Not surprisingly, you'll also need the traditional cowgirl hat. It's best to choose a classic version, straight out of the Far West, but to keep with the coastal spirit, it's also possible to opt for a straw hat, for a lighter and more casual touch. And, last but not least, denim is an essential part of the cowgirl look. From shorts to pants to skirts, anything goes, so long as it fits with the spirit of this adventurous girl who can just as well jump in a saddle or kick back with a book on Coopers Beach.

Linen, crochet and a breezy lightness

As we've seen, this trend is not about adopting the full cowgirl look, but mixing it with the coastal aesthetic. In other words, you'll need to head back to the Hamptons to dig out some closet classics. And in that department, linen rules. This natural, eco-friendly and comfortable material, is used for dresses, shirts and T-shirts, for example, and can be worn in the most casual way, preferably in white.

And, to perfect this soft, breezy and slightly summery slant, add crochet pieces (swimsuits, dresses, skirts, tops), to be worn in colorful versions or, on the contrary, in neutral tones. Plus, look for light cardigans -- ideal for the end of the day when temperatures drop. As for accessories, go for jewelry made from seashells or colored stones, basket bags and, of course, oversized sunglasses -- the height of chic.
