In Banshees of Inisherin, Jenny is the pet donkey of one of the main characters, Pádriac Súilleabháin, played by Colin Farrell, who tragically dies after choking on the other main character’s fingers, Colm Doherty, played by Brendan Gleeson.

During the 2023 Oscars, host Jimmy Kimmel brought a donkey out on stage after highlighting the film’s Best Picture nomination.

“This is Jenny, one of the stars of Banshees of Inisherin,” Kimmel said, guiding Jenny onstage. “Not only is Jenny an actor, she’s a certified emotional support donkey – at least, that’s what we told the airline to get her on the plane from Ireland. So, if you’re feeling upset, or you didn’t win, or you’re anxious, or maybe you just love mules, feel free to come up and give her a hug.”

Kimmel showed her off to her costars and introduced her to Gleeson as the man “whose finger you ate.”

However, the next day, Kimmel admitted on his show that donkey used on stage was not, in fact, Jenny. Nor was he female!
