Lance Reddick, a character actor most known for his role as Cedric Daniels on The Wire, has died at the age of 60.
His representative, Mia Hansen, said he passed away on Friday morning “from natural causes.”

Reddick started his acting career in the 90s with appearances in The West Wing and New York Undercover.
Later on, he moved from his hometown in Baltimore to New York. There, he auditioned for David Simon for a role in The Corner, an HBO show that came two years before The Wire.
Reddick didn’t get the part, but he did earn his first recurring role on HBO’s Oz, where he portrayed an undercover detective.
Simon eventually cast Reddick in his breakout role as Narcotics Unit Lt. Daniels on The Wire. Although the show never became a hit, it received critical acclaim and grew in popularity after its run.
After The Wire, Reddick starred in Lost and had regular roles in Bosch, Fringe and Resident Evil.
The actor became famous for his intense and serious characters, but he also demonstrated his comedic side by guest starring in shows like Key and Peele.
His Wire co-star, Wendell Pierce honored Reddick, calling him a “man of great strength and grace” and the “epitome of class.”
Stephanie Reddick, the late actor’s wife, thanked fans and loved ones for the “overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories” that were shared this past weekend.
She also asked for donations to be made to momcares.org, a nonprofit helping mothers and families in Baltimore.
