'TRIP WIRE' TEASER VIDEO INDICATES THAT DODGE MUSCLE CAR FINALE WILL BE QUICKER THAN DEMON

Dodge is pulling no punches with the reveal of the LX-platform grand finale muscle car that’s taking place today, at 9:00 PM, EDT. The debut won’t just take place online, or in some blasé event space. The debut of “Number 7” will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, in partnership with Roadkill, in front of fans, dealers and select media. MC&T will be on site all day to cover the action. But before that happens, we wanted to show you the final teaser of the ultimate ICE muscle car, which indicates that it’s trap speed could be even quicker than that of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

The tell? a frustrated leprechaun free falling at 140 miles per hour. Magically, however, this impish anti-hero was able to exceed that speed, eventually teleporting out of thin air.

Dodge Demon fans and owners will recall that the famous muscle car posted an official 9.65 quarter mile time at 140 miles per hour. That quarter mile time is what earned the Dodge Demon a disproving letter form the NHRA saying that it’s “banned” from any sanctioned competition, as cars running faster than 10-seconds require a harness, a cage, as well as for drivers to don a fire suit, and carry a competition license. The NHRA eventually relieved this Dodge Demon ban with an amendment to the rule that applied only to 2014 model year vehicles and newer.

Thus, to exceed 140 miles per hour would mean that Dodge Last Call Muscle Car “Number 7” at least posts a faster trap speed than the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which was exclusively a 2018 model year vehicle, with a run of 3,300 units. Every single one of them was quickly spoken for. Despite debuting in 2017, the Demon still holds several records, and eye-popping power specs. It will be no small feat for the brand to one-up this milestone muscle car. And that’s probably why they’ve grenaded a few Hemi V8 engines in the process.
