Nebraska ends season with WNIT Super 16 loss at Kansas

Huskers finish the year 18-15

The Nebraska women's basketball season has come to a close.

The Huskers fell in the WNIT Super 16 64-55 at Kansas Thursday night. NU closes the year with a record of 18-15.

Kansas led for the entirety of the game, but Nebraska kept it within striking distance until the very end. NU had the deficit down to 50-49 with under seven minutes to go, but KU would put on a 6-0 run and hold off the Huskers down the stretch.

Nebraska shot 37.7 percent for the game, including 6-of-26 from 3. Kansas made 45.8 percent of their shots, with 4-of-24 3s going in.

Absent from the lineup super senior Sam Haiby. The guard left the Northern Iowa game with an injury that ended her season, and career, with Nebraska.

Issie Bourne scored a game-high 17 points to go with a team-high six rebounds. Jaz Shelley posted 12 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and three steals in a full 40 minutes of court time.

Now with the season complete, Bourne and Shelley both have decisions to make about whether or not to return to Nebraska and use their extra season of eligibility due to the COVID-19 interruption in 2020.
