The countdown has begun as the Festival de Cannes prepares to welcome the world premiere of the much-awaited Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny directed by James Mangold. Starring Harrison Ford as the iconic adventurer the film will be screened on Thursday, May 18 in Cannes, marking the spectacular return of the legendary hero.
It has been 15 years since the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull directed by Steven Spielberg, and fans around the world have been eagerly anticipating the final installment of the Lucasfilm saga.
The red carpet event at the Palais des Festivals will be graced by the presence of the esteemed cast, including Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen. Fans will be thrilled to see the famous adventurer back in action, accompanied by the memorable music of John Williams.

Director James Mangold expressed his excitement about the event, stating, “In 1995, I was honored to come to Cannes with my first film Heavy, as part of Director’s Fortnite. Twenty-eight years later, I am proud to return with a slightly larger spectacle. My legendary collaborators and I are very excited to share a brand new and final Indiana Jones adventure with you!”
The Indiana Jones saga began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, directed by Steven Spielberg and created by George Lucas. The adventurous story of Indiana Jones captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide, making it a cinematic masterpiece for four decades.
Harrison Ford, the embodiment of heroic America, has played some of the most iconic roles of the last 50 years, including Han Solo in Star Wars IV, V, and VI, and Rick Deckard in Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017). In 2023, James Mangold directed Ford to reprise his role as Indiana Jones, and the movie promises to be another cinematic classic.
James Mangold is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival, having presented his first film, Heavy, as part of Director’s Fortnite in 1995. He went on to direct several critically acclaimed movies, including Copland in 1997, Walk the Line in 2005, 3:10 to Yuma in 2007, and Ford v Ferrari in 2019.
In addition, the Festival will pay a special tribute to Harrison Ford for his illustrious career, making this an event that movie lovers will not want to miss.
