After a recall that affected 18 F-150 Lightning trucks halted production, Ford Motor Company is starting its assembly lines up again for its popular electric truck, with plans to increase output. Adding to this, order banks for 2023 Lightning models have opened back up, and unfortunately, that means there is yet another price increase hitting the popular electric trucks. That makes this the fourth price hike the Lightning has had since 2022.
Ford F-150 Lightning Price Hike: Details
Ford F-150 Lightning prices are increasing on the fleet-only Pro, Lariat, and top-line Platinum trim. Unsurprisingly, Ford confirmed that the price increase is due to the rising costs of materials and continuing supply chain issues. The market is also playing a factor in the decision to increase the price of the F-150 Lightning once again.

Over at Stellantis, which will build the eventual Ram Rev electric truck, CEO Carlos Tavares has made it clear that the cost of building EVs isn’t cheap. Without government assistance, selling the vehicles at their current prices without losing a profit is nearly impossible. So, we suspect EVs to get more expensive in the future.
When the Ford F-150 Lightning debuted in mid-2021 for the 2022 model year, Ford advertised that the base Pro model would start at $41,769, including the destination charge. Today, the Lightning Pro starts at $61,869, which includes a destination charge that’s increased by $100 ($1,895). That’s nearly a 50 percent increase since the truck’s introduction and a $4,000 increase over the MSRP before production halted. In addition, the Lightning Lariat Standard Range sees a $1,500 increase, starting at $77,869, including destination. Finally, the Lightning Platinum increases by over $2,000 compared to the last MSRP with a starting price of $99,969.
Ford expects to ramp up production towards 150,000 annual units later this year, and order banks will open in mid-April for those interested in placing an order. Though, Ford has stated that the F-150 Lightning Pro trim is sold out for the 2023 model year.
