2023 GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED TO CELEBRATE CARROLL SHELBY

The Goodwood Revival has a long tradition of celebrating the greatest names in motorsport, and in 2023 it will be honoring the legend behind the AC Cobra and the GT40: Le Mans-winning driver Carroll Shelby. Shelby is perhaps most well known today as part of the team that took on Ferrari for Ford, as immortalized in the film Ford vs. Ferrari, developing the GT40 to the position of winning the world’s most fantastic endurance race four times in a row. As July approaches, the even more epic Goodwood Festival of Speed grows ever closer, and now, tickets are available to purchase. The Festival of Speed, too, will honor the life of Carroll Shelby, who would have turned 100 this year.

As Goodwood celebrates 75 years of the Motor Circuit and 25 years of the Revival, it’s a chance to reflect on the motorsport legends who have come and gone over the years. Carroll Shelby raced at Goodwood during the Circuit’s heyday in arguably one of the most critical and dramatic races in the annals of British motorsport: the 1959 RAC Tourist Trophy. This race saw him share the winning DBR1/300 with his co-drivers Jack Fairman and Stirling Moss – the latter a late addition after his car was eliminated in a spectacular fire during a routine pit stop.

Shelby died on May 10, 2012, at the age of 89.

A few months after the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival will occur over 8-10 September 2023. Also set to honor Carroll Shelby, tickets still aren’t yet available for that event, so if you miss the Festival of Speed, there’s still a chance to get tickets for that later this year.
