Despite the relatively lackluster success of the metaverse, the fashion industry continues to explore all things virtual. After staging an AI Fashion Week, now here comes a virtual supermodel in the form of Eva Herzigova's digital twin, who can be booked for digital campaigns and fashion shows.

The fashion industry seems keen to take advantage of all the possibilities offered by virtual worlds, which allow it to captivate the attention of younger generations. After dabbling in the metaverse, brands are slowly but surely developing virtual clothing collections, most often duplicates of physical creations, and they might soon do the same with their future ambassadors. As seen in the last few months, avatars are becoming increasingly present in advertising campaigns, with the emergence of modeling agencies dedicated to these digital models. Now, things seem to be moving up a gear, with the first virtual double of a human supermodel.

Indeed, Eva Herzigova has embraced the future, and can now boast of being the first supermodel of her standing to have her own digital clone, in the form of one of Epic Games' MetaHumans. To achieve this, her face and body were scanned by no less than 70 cameras, with the aim of recreating the slightest of her movements and facial expressions. And there's no denying that the result is amazingly realistic and lifelike. From her skin texture to her hair, through her smile and her walk, her digital double has nothing to envy of the star model herself... except her emotions, her personality and her charisma.

"MetaHuman! I love her. Over the last year, Unsigned Group and I have been developing my MetaHuman, a digital human. She can be used in so many ways, and we can change her look entirely -- from her hair, to clothes, to make-up, to poses, to virtual environments - all in a click of a button. I’m so excited to see how she develops. Watch this space," said Eva Herzigova in an Instagram post.

Evidently, this is not just about creating a MetaHuman for the pleasure of innovation, but for future applications. In this case, Eva Herzigova's virtual twin will be able to wear clothes, but also hairstyles and make-up, created digitally, and will even be able to adopt specific poses for advertising campaigns, digital fashion shows or, more simply, the modeling of digital clothes. This is something that interests brands, and others in the fashion sector, who now don't hesitate to turn to artificial intelligence (AI) to offer ever more innovative experiences.

Vogue Singapore magazine featured three models entirely created by AI in its March issue, while Levi's announced its intention to showcase new products online in the near future on AI-generated models. All these minor revolutions show the potential of these digital twins, who are determined to carve out a niche in the exclusive world of fashion.
