Baseball: Rakuten pitcher Kishi earns 150th career win

Rakuten Eagles pitcher Takayuki Kishi picked up his 150th career win after working eight innings in a 5-1 victory over the Lotte Marines on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old right-hander allowed one run and six hits before closer Yuki Matsui escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the ninth at Rakuten Mobile Park Miyagi.

It took Kishi (1-1) four starts to earn his first win of the season. The 2018 Pacific League ERA leader became the 51st pitcher in Japanese baseball history to reach 150 wins.

"I'm relieved that I finally got my 150th out of the way," Kishi said. "I put a lot of pressure on middle relievers in my previous outings, so I tried to hand the baton directly to Matsui today."

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Yuji Nishino (3-1). Rakuten catcher Ginjiro Sumitani had his second RBI single of the night in a two-run eighth.

In other action, Hiroya Miyagi threw eight innings to lead the Orix Buffaloes to a 1-0 shutout of the SoftBank Hawks. The Nippon Ham Fighters routed the Seibu Lions 7-1.

Shogo Sakakura hit a grand slam in a five-run top of the ninth as the Hiroshima Carp beat the DeNA BayStars 6-1 to end the Central League leaders' winning streak at seven games.

The Chunichi Dragons defeated the Hanshin Tigers 3-1, while the Yakult Swallows rallied to beat the Yomiuri Giants 7-5.
