Daft Punk's album "Random Access Memories," featuring the hit single "Get Lucky," celebrates its 10th anniversary on May 17. For the occasion, Snapchat has a treat in store for fans of the French band. From Wednesday, May 10, they will be able to discover an unreleased track thanks to Snap's augmented reality functions.

In a world premiere, Daft Punk fans will have the chance to discover an unreleased song by the band, 48 hours before its official release on the anniversary edition of the album "Random Access Memories." Called "Horizon," the track will be available from Wednesday, May 10, using the augmented reality functions on Snapchat.

In fact, users simply have to open the Snapchat camera to scan the original album's cover artwork from any media, whether it's a CD, vinyl or even on a streaming platform, to unlock the unreleased track.

The social network has decided to take the augmented reality experience further by allowing users to virtually try out the band's new 10th anniversary crystal helmet. To do so, simply set the camera to "selfie" mode. Doing this won't stop the track from playing.

These new helmets, unveiled in augmented reality form, will also be accessible via the application from May 11 to 28, in six countries worldwide, through "augmented billboards." Fans will be able to scan the QR code on billboards in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Sydney, London, Liverpool and Berlin, to virtually experience Daft Punk's new helmets.

A treasure hunt in 10 cities

In addition to the launch of this new track, Snapchat has partnered with the band's creative team to offer another augmented reality experience. Fans and users will be able to enjoy a treasure hunt starting Thursday, May 11 at 10 am local time in 10 cities around the world -- Paris, New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Tokyo, Sydney, São Paulo and Buenos Aires. The experience will be available by enabling geolocation on Snapchat and launching the "Daft Punk" Lens in the app's Lens carousel.
