Baseball: Darvish gets 3rd win of season as Padres top Nationals

Yu Darvish picked up his third win of the season after throwing six effective innings in the San Diego Padres' 7-4 victory Tuesday over the Washington Nationals.

Darvish (3-3) allowed three runs on six hits, two of them home runs, while walking one and striking out four in a 90-pitch outing at Nationals Park.

Against the veteran right-hander, the Nationals came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning on back-to-back home runs from CJ Abrams and Lane Thomas.

A sixth-inning Fernando Tatis Jr. sacrifice fly gave the Padres a 4-3 lead, and the visitors added three more runs in the seventh before Darvish was relieved by Tim Hill.

"I had good velocity on my fastball today, and my breaking pitches were good, too," Darvish said. "My mental state and concentration level were good even before the game. The quality of the pitches I'm throwing has made me look forward to my next start."

In other action, Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-4 with a walk and his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning of a 7-2 win over the New York Mets.

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani had an infield single in four at-bats as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 4-0. The Red Sox's Japanese left fielder Masataka Yoshida went hitless in four at-bats.
