Sydney Sweeney Says Her Dad & Grandfather ‘Walked Out’ After Watching Her ‘Euphoria’ Nude Scenes

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 06: Sydney Sweeney attends the 10th Annual LACMA ART+FILM GALA honoring Amy Sherald, Kehinde Wiley, and Steven Spielberg presented by Gucci at Los Angeles County Museum of Art on November 06, 2021 in Los...

Sydney Sweeney says that she didn’t “prepare” her dad to see her scenes in the HBO drama series, Euphoria, which often shows nudity and sexual content.

When she watched the show with her parents, her father and grandfather “turned it off” and “walked out” of the room, Sweeney said in a new interview with Sunday Today.

Meanwhile, Sweeney’s grandmother, who she called a “big supporter” of her career, continued on.

The actress also said that her mom had visited her on the set a couple of times, so she was aware of the show’s content. She also brought her grandmother to some of her sets and even occasionally made her an extra.

Sweeney then talked about her role as Cassie, calling her a “beautiful, broken character.” She explained that she enjoys playing characters who “read one way on a page” but have “layers” and “emotional depth.” She tries to find “who she is and why she is, how she acts and what she thinks.”

She noted that she loves Cassie because it allows her to “go insane and do all these crazy choices.”

Euphoria was renewed for a third season in February 2022, but new episodes aren’t expected until 2025. HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi said the delay was mostly due to the difficulty in balancing the drama show with the post-production process of Euphoria creator Sam Levinson‘s new HBO series The Idol.

Sweeney also recently starred in Reality, an HBO film that centers around Reality Winner, who was accused of leaking top secret government information regarding Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to the media.
