英語「by the end of the month」の意味って？
仕事の「予算」についての英会話を見てみましょう。
A：来期向けの予算案は、もう仕上げたの？
A: Did you (already) finish your budget plan for the next quarter? / Have you finished your budget plan for the next quarter?
B：ずっと他の仕事に忙殺されていて、予算案作りに時間を割けずにいるんだ。
B: I’ve been extremely busy with other work and haven’t had time to plan the budget.
A：でも、月末までに案を提出しなければならないのよ。
A: But we have to submit our plans by the end of the month.
B：わかってるよ、だから部下に最終案を作る前の大まかな計算を頼んだんだ。
B: I know, so I asked my team to make rough calculations before I finalize the plan [make a final plan].
A：うちの課では、今期と同水準の予算を維持するのはかなり難しそうよ。
A: It seems it’s going to be quite difficult [tough] for my section to keep [maintain] the same budget level it had this quarter.
B：たぶんうちの課も同じだろうね、今期の実績にかんがみれば。
B: The same is probably true of my section, considering the results we had this quarter.

ちょこっと解説♪
- Did you already finish ～? と Have you finished ～? はいずれも「～は済みましたか？」という意味の表現です。
- extremely busy は、ひどく忙しい状況（忙殺されているような）を表します。
