C8 CORVETTE PROTOTYPES SPOTTED WITH POTENTIAL SPLIT WINDOW

Seeing that the C8 Corvette has been in production for nearly four production years now, we’ll likely be seeing a refresh soon. A recent sighting of some heavily camouflaged prototypes in Colorado suggests we may see some pretty neat exterior changes, which could include the return of a split rear window.

C8 Corvette Prototype: Speculations

According to Corvette Blogger, photos were recently posted to the Colorado Car Spotters page, which says there was a fleet of six cars in attendance within the Colorado mountains. This may be a group of C8 Corvette ZR1 supercars undergoing high-altitude testing in preparation for an imminent launch. Though we can only see four prototypes in one of the images, one of which features a High Wing spoiler. A torch red convertible C8 Corvette is also tagging along with the group.

Some cars have protrusions under the tarp on the rear window down the center, which suggests that a future refresh could come with an optional split window. Either that or the split window design is returning for vehicles with the LT7 engine. That includes the upcoming Corvette Zora and the ZR1, which will both make use of the 5.5L flat plane crank naturally aspirated V8 engine but with the addition of turbochargers because only one (or two) things can make that engine even more awesome.

Though these prototypes are wearing heavy camouflage and look epic, there’s little to go on regarding what these could be. This means there’s a lot of speculation regarding these vehicles spotted high-altitude testing. But if they are C8 ZR1 or even Zora prototypes, we hope that the Corvette Engineers are more mindful of the curvy mountain roads and avoid getting into trouble like in the past. It is summertime, which means it’ll be hard not to have some fun in these cars, even despite the torrential rain the state has been having.
