Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriquez, 19, has died. The cause of death is unknown.
The shocking news was shared on his mother Drena De Niro’s Instagram account on Sunday with a picture of her son and a heartbreaking caption.
“My beautiful sweet angel,” the A Star Is Born actress began her post. “I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.”
“You have been my joy, my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life,” she continued. “I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.”
“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you,” she added before tagging Leandro’s father, Carlos Rodriguez.
“Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy,” she concluded.
Rodriguez, a New York-based graffiti artist, has not commented on his son’s death but posted a black screen on his Instagram account instead.

Although both of Leandro’s parents are active on social media, Leandro kept his Instagram account private. His last social media appearance was on a Mother’s Day post shared by Drena this year.
Leandro had just turned 19 last week. He was an only child and one out of four of Robert’s grandchildren. He also starred in films like A Star Is Born, The Collection and Cabaret Maxime.
The sad news comes weeks after his grandfather welcomed a seventh child with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen.
