A powdered substance found in the White House tested positive for cocaine.

The drug was found on Sunday while President Joe Biden and his family were away at Camp David, Maryland. A Secret Service agent noticed a small bag of white powder in the West Wing while doing a routine inspection.

The president and his family did not return to the White House until Tuesday morning and have been informed of the situation.

It’s unclear who left the drug in the presidential residence, but it is reported to have been located in a cubbie near the ground floor entrance of the West Wing. This area is also where visitors pass by to drop off their electronics or any other belongings before beginning the White House tour.

On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the discovery area is a “heavily traveled area where many… West Wing visitors come through.”

Standard White House public tours are typically held from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and do not usually include the West Wing. However, Jean-Pierre noted that West Wing tours occurred on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
