Order banks for the 2024 Ford Maverick will be opening soon, and in order to assist with the supply and demand struggles Ford has been facing, the company has decided to make a few changes for the upcoming model year. While we’ve recently covered that existing customers will be made a priority, some big changes are being made to the trim walk. Most notably, the in-demand Maverick Hybrid will now be an optional powertrain, while the Maverick EcoBoost will become the base truck.
As per news from earlier this week, the 2024 Ford Maverick XL trim will receive the 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged motor as the standard powertrain. That makes 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.5L hybrid engine will become the optional powertrain.

As a result of this change for the 2024 model year, pricing for the Ford Maverick has indeed crept up. The new starting price for the 2024 Ford Maverick with the 2.0L turbo will be $23,400 USD, while the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid now starts at $24,900, which is more than a 10-percent increase from the $22,595 MSRP for the 2023 model year. That should prompt buyers to opt for the turbo over the hybrid for this upcoming order cycle, which will likely close quickly after opening if last year was anything to go off of.
It should be noted that the Ford Maverick with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine is the most powerful, is available with all-wheel-drive, and can tow more than the Maverick Hybrid, which is exclusively FWD. Currently, the 2023 Maverick offers the EcoBoost as a no-cost upgrade from the hybrid, but does ask for another $2,200 if the customer wants all-wheel-drive to go with it.

Why is Ford reshuffling Maverick content for 2024? likely is due to recent reports on the Mavericktruckclub forum, which detail that 83-percent of Ford Maverick orders have been the hybrid, which is 33-percent more than Ford can handle. Just 17-percent have been the turbo option, suggesting that these small truck customers are far more frugal than originally thought. Or perhaps it’s fleet customers that are distorting the data. At the moment, Ford isn’t disclosing that information.
Customers with existing orders aren’t expected to have to cope with an MSRP increase, although their dealer could still force that upon them.
Other changes for the 2024 Ford Maverick include two new colors – Azure Gray and Terrain. At the same time, the Lariat receives a spray-in bed liner, co-pilot 360, and wireless chargers as standard. Meanwhile, the Tremor, added just last year, will now receive hood and door decals. But that means the off-road plus appearance package will be removed from the off-road-focused truck.
