Baseball: Ohtani hits 33rd HR as Angels end 6-game skid with wild win

Shohei Ohtani hit his major league-leading 33rd home run as the Los Angeles Angels snapped their six-game losing streak with a wild 13-12, 10-inning victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday.

The two-way star led off a three-run bottom of the ninth with a solo shot over the center-field wall off closer Ryan Pressly. In the 10th, Trey Cabbage scored the game-winning run on a throwing error by shortstop Grae Kessinger, who tried to turn what would have been an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play.

A day after he took his fifth loss on the mound, Ohtani went 1-for-5 with an intentional walk and three strikeouts at Angel Stadium.

Luis Rengifo and Mike Moustakas each hit three-run home runs for the Angels, who came back from deficits of 9-3 and 12-9.

Among other Japanese players, Boston Red Sox left fielder Masataka Yoshida had his multi-hit streak end at eight games in a 10-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

Yoshida was hitless in four at-bats, while Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-5.

A day earlier, Yoshida had two hits to break a tie with former Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki for the longest multi-hit streak by a Japanese player in the major leagues.

New York Mets pitcher Kodai Senga got a no-decision after allowing one run in six innings in a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
