URGENT: Japan lifts FY 2023 inflation outlook to 2.6%, above BOJ's target

The outlook for consumer inflation in Japan for the fiscal year ending next March was raised to 2.6 percent from a previous estimate of 1.7 percent, the Cabinet Office said Thursday, well above the Bank of Japan's target.

For fiscal 2024, consumer prices, which include energy and volatile fresh food items, are estimated to gain 1.9 percent.
