Officials are currently investigating the theory thatRex Heuermann killed his victims at his home in Long Island.

They believe that Heuermann lured his victims to his house while his family went out of town. Being able to kill his victims at his home gave him the advantage of having the necessary supplies on hand, which includes burlap bags and the tape that was found at the scene of the crime. This is why the police are combing through his house, in hopes that they will find more evidence that are connected to the women.

Despite Heuermann only being arrested two weeks ago at his office in Manhattan, officials have been looking into him since the spring. He has pleaded not guilty to the three homicides of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy and Amber Lynn Costello

Reportedly while he was in police custody, Heuermann was described as showing no emotions even though he stated “I didn’t do this” to his lawyers.

He is currently being investigated for the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes and has not yet been charged with her murder.

In addition to this, his wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce from him after he was arrested. She has asked for privacy on the matter as she and her children are dealing with the allegations.

Investigators used cell tower records to locate the calls Heuermann made on burner phones before he allegedly committed the murders. When Barthelemy disappeared she was last seen in Hauppauge at 1:30 a.m. and Heuermann was only 30 minutes away from there in Massapequa at 1:40 a.m. She then traveled to Massapequa near Heuermann’s home which is where Heuermann allegedly killed her.

In Costello’s case, she was contacted one day before her murder by a burner phone. After the call, she had a friend pretend to be an “outraged boyfriend” while a client was at her home and got them to leave the house. She was messaged by the phone the next day with a text that read, “That was not nice.”

She was called again by the same phone. When the phone was tracked they found that the owner traveled to the area near her house which was the night she disappeared after walking out of her home.
