AMD 3D V-Cache uses a new packaging technology that stacks additional layers of cache on top of the CPU, doubling the amount of L3 cache from the standard 7945HX without increasing the size of the die. The 7945X3D is a 16-core, 32-thread CPU, with the cores split across two core complexes, or CCDs. One of these CCDs gets the additional L3 cache, while the other CCD allows its eight cores to run at higher boost clocks. This gives you the best of both worlds: more cache for the games and tasks that need it, and higher clock speeds when cache isn’t a bottleneck.
